Brew Stash Bash: a day of craft beer, great food, live music and fun in the water

After the art show on Saturday, I surprised Jason with a trip to the US National Whitewater Center for the first inaugural Brew Stash Bash.  A day of craft beer, live music, great food and live water sports.  What could be better?

There were over 14 different craft breweries to choose from.  One ticket  bought you a sample and four tickets bought you a pint ( $5 for 4 tickets ) .  Many samples were tried by our group...and then we settled on a favorite.

Mine was the NoDA Jitos by NoDA Brewing Company- it tasted like a beer and a mojito had been blended together.  It was not too heavy to drink in the hot sun and it went very well with the Aloha nachos- sweet pulled pork, black beans, cheddar cheese and pineapple salsa sitting on top of crisp tortilla chips.  Very good and perfect for two to share : )

With beer and nachos in hand, we sat down on the edge of the water and watched the whitewater fun.

 There was rafting...

...kayaking...

 ...and whatever this is.

 There were lots of thrills...

 ...and a few spills.

And sometimes, the spectators...

 ...became the doers.

After a few hours of watching and talking, Jas and I decided it was time for some shade and some grub.  We ordered our food and then listened to music by Brown Bird- an awesome band from Rhode Island.

While we listened, we munched on the all-time best Southern delicacy (ok- a little sarcasm here, but not much) Fried Pickles : )

And then it was time to go home.  Sad to go, but it had been a long  day : )

A long day, but a great day!  Already can't wait for next year for the next Brew Stash Bash.  This may have to become a tradition for us.

 Cheers!
